Fall has hit Wachusett's grounds, but we always have summer in mind up at camp!
This past week I traveled down to Longshore Sailing School in Westport, CT to retrieve three new Laser sailboats. The boats are in amazing shape, and I can tell you from experience that they are some of the most fun and user friendly boats that kids can use to learn how to sail.
In this director's days before Wachusett, I spent my summers at this very sailing school in Westport, where I used to live. Back then it was known as John Cantor's School of Sailing. It was there that I learned the tenets of sailboat racing and developed my love for sailing. This year these boats will be used to teach the boys the strategies and rules of racing. We will be introducing a revamped sailing curriculum including racing, and possible trips to nearby lakes like Champlain and Lake George.
I am very excited for these new developments, and I'm excited to get my feet in the lake to help personally take part in the new programming. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
